We are always happy to offer free help and advice, so if you are unsure of what system you need, or how to achieve the results you want, please do ask. We deal directly with most of the major ISDN codec manufacturers, and we regularly test and evaluate all of their products - we've even helped out with the design of some of them!.
The codecs we sell on this site are the ones that we class as best of breed - they offer the best quality, work reliably and are easy to use, and offer excellent audio quality. The AudioTX Communicator system is one of our newest and offers excellent quality, new and easy ways of working, and an incredibly low price.
We can also provide a full studio installation service - if you need any kind of ISDN codec based facility, we can help with the design, supply of any ancillary equipment, installation and training in its use.
From a voice-over setup through to a network broadcast transmission suite, ask us for more information and pricing. We can advice, specify and install equipment for company press offices, spokespersons and professional interviewees that is compatible with our line of equipment for broadcasters and will allow you to conduct down-the-line radio interviews from your home or company offices. This equipment is also ideal for press agencies and PR professionals. And optionally, APTx coding at up to kbps.
This gives you full linear PCM audio at a reduced bitrate - meaning that full studio grade connections are possible over most standard internet connections. With our recommendations on audio cards see the 'Guidelines on Sound and ISDN cards' section or any decent professional audio card, you should get better sound than from an existing codec. On a good network e. Pretty much any and every available codec. Telos' entire range such as Zephyr and ZephyrExpress How does the IP codec functionalit y work?
Our IP functionality is absolutely unique. Whilst other manufacturers offer IP codec functionality, most if not all are still using streaming media technologies like those used for web radio. Whilst streaming media technologies are fine for what they are most commonly used - streaming lower quality audio direct to consumers - they do not work well in professional applications. Our proprietary system for audio over IP gives you robust, low-delay, live, professional quality audio over IP.
There's also the option to use the built-in auto-fallback functionality which allows you to switch to an alternative IP connection, ISDN connection or even telephone backup in case of failure of your network circuit.
Yes, take a look at the Multicast tab in Communicator. This allows you to Multicast audio over your network beware: the Internet does not currently support Multicast technologies - this is highly efficient What limitations are there in the free trial version? The trial version will run for 30 days from the date of installation. During this time, it functions exactly as a purchased version except that it will disconnect you in between 8 and 30 minutes on every connection.
First you must download and install the trial version on the PC you intend to run Communicator on. You then have a choice of two ways to buy:. Use this to purchase Communicator online from this site. You will be emailed a registration code - this normally takes only a few minutes. Enter the registration code into the registration screen shown at startup. If you change your PC or decide to or have to change major hardware components inside your PC change like your hard drive say if it crashes or motherboard, you will have to purchase another key.
Reinstalling the same operating system or other software changes do NOT normally cause a problem. This is instant so useful if you need the product right away Hardware Dongle: a small, compact hardware key which plugs into a USB port on your computer. This offers more flexibility - you can move the software to another machine if you wish at a later stage, and, of course, you are protected against losing the product key, for example in the case of a system failure on your PC - e.
We really do strongly recommend that you purchase the product this way. Of course, as multi-studio program producer and originator, our needs are different than an independent voice talent. We still have ISDN and use it when we can. Of course IP solutions are way cheaper! We use the Telos system every night to send our national, live-to-air program program to the network. Most of the time it works fine, but the rate of failure is definitely higher than for ISDN. Forget about using a consumer grade internet service.
QoS is way more critical than raw speed. And it works great to our MPLS locations. Whatever, it just takes careful setup of the IT environment. In-the-box solutions, such as Source Connect are difficult to use in our enterprise, all-digital, house sync based infrastructure.
We've gotten Source Connect to work, but it takes jumping through some hoops. I certainly would not want to rely on it for live-to-air.
Right now, Zoom works great for conversation during sessions. As a matter of fact, I use Zoom to pump copy and Audition into the voice booth I do not do production in the voice booth. Source Connect seems to do well, so far. ISDN rarely comes up right now, but it's still an option that is out there on some projects. I am not sure it's going to be a necessary option, yet. I see a lot of people posting about vo work with this question.
For radio stations What do you use? Is anyone using Comrex's Opal? If not, what are you using to get studio quality audio station from remote locations? Also, I am using them in pretty much real time, if I didn't want to worry about droputs broadcast purposes, not voiceover all I have to do is set up an icecast server point and the buffers would be adjustable vs real time processing. It worked, but it was iffy at best, and by then a lot of free alternatives were coming on line. Our primary hookups are via the Access boxes.
